Restoring dignity through design — a complete transformation of a Racing Beach home with a contemporary edge.

In Falmouth's Racing Beach neighborhood, Racing Beach Estate was a complete transformation of a home that had lost its luster. The structure was sound but dated, with a layout that didn't fully capitalize on its location. The mandate was to restore its sense of dignity while infusing it with a contemporary edge.

The process began with a careful study of what made the original home appealing — its proportions, certain details of the façade — and which elements detracted from its potential. Outdated windows were replaced with energy-efficient units that also improved sightlines to the landscape. Interior walls were selectively removed to open up living spaces, and circulation was rethought to improve flow.
A significant challenge was retaining the home's character while updating every finish, fixture, and surface. By preserving certain signature details and reinterpreting them in higher-quality materials, the design strikes a balance between heritage and modernity.
The result is a property that now stands proudly among its neighbors, its architectural voice clear and confident.
